Honestly owning rentals made me realize how helpless alot of adults are now.

I bought a bunch of duplexes down south back around 2018-2020 because the numbers made sense. Cheap property taxes, cheap insurance, cheap properties in general. One duplex I paid $124k for is bringing in around $1925/mo total now and the tennants renewed instantly after the last increase.

Had a tennant last week who submitted a maintenence request because the microwave “stopped heating.” Property manager drove over there and the door wasnt shut all the way.

Another guy called because his screen door came off the track. PM slid it back in place in about 10 seconds and the guy goes “much obliged sir” like he just repaired farm equipment from the 1800s or something.

Whats weird is the older tennants almost never bother anybody. Pay on time. Maybe ask for a sink fix every few years. Younger ones send paragraphs over tiny stuff.

Not even trying to sound mean but I geniunely think people are less capable now than they were 20 years ago.

People online act like owning rentals is some impossible genius level thing but honestly half the job is just dealing with grown adults who dont know why the wifi stopped working after they unplugged the router to move furniture around.

This is just highly hypothetical and will probably never happen, but:
What would be the economical implications if globohomo corpo were to hire wagies again because AI is too expensive? On one side I see the immediate implosion of the tech (or even entire) stock market and everything connected to it. But on the other side, there's suddenly an obscene amount of "new" jobs and economic growth in first world countries. This might be an unprecedented situation, as historically (pre crypto/covid) economical recession/growth cycles lasted for years with (at least somewhat) real definable causes. This time however it's just

With recent news articles reporting this, a trend shift will have immediate economical ramifications, much faster than COVID for example. Possibly a recession and adjustment period lasting only a few weeks, followed by one of the greatest economic booms and wealth accumulation possibilities the world yet has seen.

How would you prepare for this scenario, other than selling all your tech investments when the first signs appear? Couldn't the news articles and sinking BTC value indicate that it's happening soon? Reinvest in a completely different sector or try to time the bottom of tech securities/commodities that don't rely on AI?
