European countries are genuinely introducing unrealised capital gains taxes. And not just for billionaires, but literally people who own a single one ounce gold coin would have had to sell it to pay tax based on last years 'performance'. I know this is Noticing 101 and I should have known this but it never emotionally got to me because I know so few people.

I sometimes look at random job postings in random shitty suburb towns near mid-tier dumps like Derby and Manchester and wonder who the fuck works these. The existence of these adverts seem like they're joking that we live in 1950, and that someone could move to a town, buy a house after two weeks, and work there for 4 decades. But we live in 2026, people will have to rent overpriced and shitty housing, and they'll have to move away within a few years to progress.

Small businesses are the biggest fucking meme of all time. Having your entire fate in the hands of a droog boomer who judges you on conversation about sportsball is a horrific joke. Working in a huge soulless corporation is heaven.
