Only a minority of less than 1% move up or down the social ladder. Boomers had social mobility, but that hasn't been the case for decades.

The more of a headstart you have, the more extreme compounding gets over the long term. Most of them never even beat SP500 index returns, but they don't need to since they got started with a high basis.
Most of these people have a fantasy in their head that wealth outcomes are the result of narratives. Narratives that they like to tell themselves. But all of it really is just ultimately, compounding. Wealth is a mathematical equation. It doesn't just spring forth from nothing. And exceptionalism is only an extreme, less than 1% minority. There's nothing special at all about almost everyone.

I got a 20% raise yesterday. $120 --> $144k (plus $7k-$10k annual bonuses). I also just paid off my car which frees up $500/month. What should I do with the extra income?

Right now I basically break even when factoring in mortgage, gas/food, insurance, preschool costs, and 5% contribution to retirement (with employer match). I live in a moderately HCOL area, for context. I'm looking at an extra $1800 now per month post-tax. I'm thinking of increasing retirement contributions, put a couple hundred extra a month toward mortgage principal (5.625% interest rate), putting a little into kids college funds, and saving up what remains in HYSA for emergencies and home projects. Anything else I'm missing?

I took my brokerage accounts, and put 90% of my money into VTI
and kept contributing to it

but at the same time I put 10% into TQQQ, in its own portfolio
I said fuck it, whatever happens, happens

Now, over 50% of my networth is in my TQQQ portfolio. I even stopped contributing to it after two years, and just made all my contributions to my standard portfolio and my TQQQ has just grown bigger, and bigger.

It's growing out of control. My networth swings massively now.

Should I call it quits and trim?

I am SO fucking bored of my zero work WFH job. I still have to sit and do nothing in meetings.

I'm a natural autist so other people took my responsibilities and I have around 10% of the responsibility that the person who previously had my job had. I can't actually function in corporations. I can do the work and so on, I just can't dance the social dance that gets people to do things.

How do I handle being lambasted and scrutinized when I finally publicize my business endeavors? Every time I start a new project it just feels like the mouth of the public (a poorly opinionated beast) opens up and tries to swallow me. A lot of their criticism is subjective as hell, so I couldn't give two shits about a lot of it. Some of it is helpful but it's tiring discerning between good advice and faggotry persuasion. The funny part is, despite the criticisms, my projects pretty much always succeed. I usually end my projects before they officially get anywhere because I immediately get scared of the publicity I start receiving. They are usually creative projects, but in some way they always have the capacity to make money. I start getting full blown panic attacks because of the amount of people shit talking me and threatening me. There's a lot of positivity given to me as well, but usually outweighed by the negativity. I am also the kind of person that doesn't necessarily want to make something everyone is going to like (at first) and I go against the grain, so it's a given that I will get haters. IDK maybe this is why people have social media managers and stuff like that... I just need a way to manage being public without it ruining my life and freaking me out. I hope that this makes sense.
